I received my BA in English and Fine Arts from St. Lawrence University, and a Masters in Jewelry and a Masters in Design Management from The Savannah College of Art and Design. I was enrolled in my Design Management Masters through the eLearning program at SCAD. I have two years full time experience as an online student and understand the student experience. I will be getting my MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths London so that I can teach art at the graduate level. I am passionate about learning and sharing my knowledge and experience.
I have a lifelong love of all things fashion. As a young girl, I was always in my mom's closet trying on her clothes and in the attic diving into the trunk of antique clothing.
For over 15 years, I have been working in the fashion industry as a consultant.
I have worked with the design teams of many Ready-to-Wear designers in the USA, UK and France. Many of my pieces have ended up on the runway. In addition, I have held lectures on vintage fashions for teenagers and held fashion classes for children. I am in The Guinness Book of World Records for an antique dress I sold at auction.
My teaching style has always been experiential, immersive and child directed. I unschooled my son when he was growing up (he is now 27). He accompanied me on my appointments and we traveled for my business. Everywhere we went, from Paris to Toronto, to Ohio, Washington DC and New York City, we created learning adventures for ourselves.
Fashion classes are one of the few classes that are rarely, if ever, offered as part of a school curriculum. This means that most students enter a fashion class for the first time in college. I will be immersing my students in the World of Fashion and teaching classes in everything from design to magazines, vintage clothing, the history of fashion, fashion styling, fashion photgraphy, fashion illustration and much more.
